In the Preferences Panel, you can set up your workspace settings and adjust them to your workflow.
You can open the Preferences Panel by clicking the profile icon in the top right corner of the app, or hit ⌘ comma (Mac) / Ctrl comma (Windows):
General Preferences
Set up your ratings and toast settings and default filmstrip views:
Auto-advance to the next image after adding, changing or clearing a rating
Clear the rating with a duplicated rate
Show a toast notification when rating, with keyboard shortcut reminders and when in zoom mode
Choose vertical or horizontal filmstrip view
In the General tab of Preferences, you can also change your default formula for renaming images, and toggle on/off the automatic archiving of old projects.
Keyboard Shortcuts Preferences
Choose the shortcut controls for when moving between scenes and images. If you'd like to learn how to customize your Keyboard Shortcuts, click here.
Assessments Preferences
Choose your settings for image assessments:
Eye and focus assessment color preferences
Choose how eye and focus assessments display (only eyes, only focus, both or none)
Show assessment icons in Face Zoom
Choose how eye and focus assessments display in the Close-ups panel
Choose to include or ignore background faces
Import Preferences
Here you can enable the option to apply the folder's name as the project title or disable it to rename the project's title upon import.
You can choose to automatically generate high-res previews for your RAW files that have a small preview upon import.
You can also choose the default settings after import, and toggle on/off memory card detection trigger for ingest.
Interface Preferences
In this section, you can customise your filmstrip settings, including its orientation and visibility. These preferences apply across all of your projects.
You’ll also find options to tailor your Loupe View experience, such as:
Showing or hiding filenames under thumbnails
Choosing full image assessments, minimal assessments, or hiding them completely
Selecting small, medium, or large thumbnails
You can also access these settings by right-clicking an image in Loupe View, then selecting your chosen setting in the pop-up window:
Appearance
Narrative now supports Dark mode. If you previously used a dark canvas colour, you'll already be seeing it.
You can turn Dark Mode on or off in two ways:
Right-click your canvas, then choose Appearance and select Dark mode
Or open Preferences, go to Interface, and choose your Appearance setting
This is the first step in our Dark mode rollout, with more of the app moving to Dark mode in future updates.
