Publish post not loading correctly in Squarespace

Fix a Publish post that isn't showing on Squarespace: check your plan, the live page, your code and Ajax.

Written by Ashton Smith

If your Publish post isn't loading correctly on your Squarespace website, work through these checks in order.

Does my Squarespace plan allow JavaScript?

Your Squarespace plan needs to allow JavaScript (the code that loads your post). Every plan has Code blocks, but not every plan lets them run JavaScript. Here's which plans work:

Plan type

Plan

Works with Publish?

Older Squarespace plans

Legacy plans are older Squarespace plans that you may still be on.

If your plan doesn't allow JavaScript, you can export your post as JPGs and upload those instead, on a yearly Publish plan.

Why doesn't my post show in the Squarespace editor?

Your post may not show while you're editing in Squarespace, as Squarespace doesn't run JavaScript in the editor. Save your changes, then open the live page on your website to check your post.

Is my code set up correctly?

If your post doesn't show on the live page, check these:

  • Your post is published in Publish.

  • You pasted all of the code without changing it. If you're not sure, copy it again from Publish.

  • The code is in a Code block, not a text block.

  • The Code block is set to HTML, with Display Source turned off.

Then save and check the live page again. To go through the steps again, see Publishing to Squarespace.

Why does my post only show one photo, or only show after refreshing?

If you're on Squarespace 7.0 and your post only shows one photo, or only shows after you refresh the page, Ajax loading may be stopping it from loading. See Fix Ajax loading on Squarespace 7.0 websites.
