Written by Ashton Smith

You can export a Publish post as JPGs and upload them to your website yourself. Each row of your post is saved as one JPG. This is available on yearly Publish plans.

How do I export my post as JPGs?

To export your post, follow these steps.

  1. Finish your post, then go to File > Export Post to JPG in the menu bar.

  2. Click Export Entire Blog.

  3. Enter the width you want your JPGs to be, in pixels.

  4. Choose a background color that matches your website.

  5. Choose or create the folder to save your JPGs to.

  6. Tick Create Subfolder if you want your JPGs saved in their own folder.

  7. Choose what to include in your file names. Keep the number at the start, so your JPGs stay in order.

  8. Choose the quality (how much your JPGs are compressed) and whether to sharpen them.

  9. Click Export Layout.

Your JPGs are saved to your folder straight away, numbered in order. When you upload them to your website, sort them by file name so they show in the right order.

Tip: For most websites, we suggest exporting at 2000px wide with 75 to 95% quality, and trying it with sharpening turned off.

What does each JPG include?

Each row of your post is saved as one JPG. If you have photos side by side in a row, they're saved together in one JPG.

Each file name starts with its order number, followed by the image title and any keywords you added in Publish, depending on the options you chose.

How do I change one row after exporting?

To change one row after you've exported, make your changes in Publish. Then select the photos in that row and click Export Collage. Upload the new JPG to your website in place of the old one.

Should I export JPGs or publish my post?

We suggest publishing your post where your website allows it, so you can use all of Publish's features. Exporting JPGs is useful if your website doesn't allow JavaScript (the code that loads a published post).

Here's what's different when you export JPGs:

  • Your post's text isn't exported, so you'll need to add it on your website.

  • If you change your post in Publish, your JPGs on your website won't update. You'll need to export and upload them again.

  • Photos side by side are saved as one image.

  • Lightbox, the Download Images button and Pinterest pins don't work on JPGs.

  • Animations only work when you publish with the WordPress plugin.

  • You'll need to add your image descriptions, page title and SEO details on your website yourself.

Why can't I export my post?

If you can't export your post, check that you're signed in to the right account and that you're on a yearly Publish plan. Exporting isn't available on monthly plans.

If you're on a yearly plan and still can't export, contact us through the chat bubble or at [email protected].
