“Sorry, something went wrong” when shipping with an AI Preset

Fix the "Sorry, something went wrong" message when you ship to Lightroom Classic with an AI Preset.

Written by Ashton Smith

If you see "Sorry, something went wrong" when you ship with an AI Preset, Narrative couldn't finish one of the shipping steps. It might have been applying the AI Preset, opening or switching your Lightroom catalog, or applying Snapshots. These steps fix it for most photographers.

How do I check the Narrative plugin is turned on?

First, check the Narrative plugin is turned on in Lightroom Classic.

  1. In Lightroom Classic, go to File → Plugin Manager.

    Open Lightroom Classic Plugin Manager.

  2. Click Narrative in the list.

  3. Check it says Enabled. If it doesn't, click Enable.

  4. Check for any error message in the plugin's status.

Check that the Narrative plugin is enabled.

Make sure Narrative is up to date too. Learn how Narrative updates.

Can I ship again to the same catalog?

You can safely ship the same photos again to the same catalog. Once Lightroom is open and ready, ship again. If some photos are already in the catalog, Narrative tells you, and your Snapshots are kept. You don't need to delete the catalog or remove your photos first.

  • Mac: if Lightroom needs to close and reopen to switch catalogs, let it finish before you do anything else.

  • Windows: open the right catalog in the Library module, then drag the whole folder Narrative shows you onto Lightroom.

Will shipping again change my edits?

Shipping again doesn't change edits you've made in Lightroom. But reading metadata or switching to a different Snapshot does replace edits you've made since shipping, so save those first.

If you want to rule out a problem with your catalog, you can try shipping a few photos to a new test catalog. Learn how to create a new catalog when you ship.
