You can apply an AI Preset when you ship your RAW photos from Narrative to Lightroom Classic or Lightroom CC, so they arrive in Lightroom already edited.
With Lightroom Classic, you can apply more than one AI Preset at a time and compare them with Snapshots. Lightroom CC uses one AI Preset at a time, and corrections you make in Lightroom CC don't help your Personal AI Preset learn.
How do I ship my photos with an AI Preset?
You start from your culled project in Narrative.
Finish culling your shoot in Narrative.
Click Ship + Edit in the top-right corner.
Check which photos you're shipping, and choose Lightroom Classic or Lightroom CC.
For Lightroom Classic, choose the catalog to import into. If a different catalog is open on a Mac, follow the message to close and reopen Lightroom. Narrative switches catalogs for you.
How do I choose my AI Presets?
You choose your AI Presets on the right of the same window.
Turn on Apply AI Preset for Lightroom.
Select the AI Presets you want to use.
Check the number of photos, then click Ship + Pre-edit [number] Images at the bottom.
Keep Narrative open until your photos have finished editing and shipping. Then follow the import steps for your computer. On Windows, you drag the folder of photos into your open Lightroom Classic catalog. Learn how to ship to Lightroom on Windows.
Can I apply more than one AI Preset at a time?
With Lightroom Classic, you can select as many AI Presets as you have access to. There's no limit on how many you can ship with at once.
One AI Preset is marked as primary, and Lightroom shows it as the main edit. To make a different AI Preset primary, click the primary marker next to it.
When Lightroom Classic opens, your photos are already selected. Click Import, then go to the Develop module and open the Snapshots panel. You'll see a Snapshot for each AI Preset you chose.
Click a Snapshot to see that AI Preset on the photo. To use one Snapshot on several photos, select them and choose File → Plug-in Extras → Sync Snapshots in Lightroom Classic. Learn how to switch between AI Presets in Lightroom.
Important: Switching or syncing a Snapshot replaces the photo's current edit, including any changes you've made since shipping. Save any edit you want to keep first.
What if I choose a locked Personal AI Preset?
Your plan sets how many Personal AI Presets you can keep: 1 Color and 1 Black & White on Premium, and 5 of each on Ultra. This isn't a limit on how many AI Presets you can ship with.
If you choose a Personal AI Preset that's locked and you have space on your plan, it's unlocked as one of your choices when you ship. If you have 2 or more Personal AI Presets of that type, Narrative asks you to confirm first. If you've already used all your choices, you'll need to upgrade or contact us to use another one.
Can I apply edits without opening Lightroom?
You can apply an AI Preset without opening Lightroom. Turn off Open in editing program, keep Apply AI Preset for Lightroom on, then click Pre-edit [number] Images. Narrative saves the edits in your photos' XMP files (small sidecar files next to your photos).
Can I ship more photos to the same catalog?
You can keep shipping new photos into the same Lightroom Classic catalog. Narrative skips any photos that are already in it. If every photo you've selected is already there, you can't ship them again.
To try a different AI Preset on photos already in Lightroom Classic, see How do I ship my images with a new AI Preset? Before you read metadata from your photos into Lightroom, check the metadata sync guide, because it can replace edits you've made since.
What if I use Pre-Edit?
Pre-Edit is in beta. It lets you preview and apply AI Presets while you cull. When you ship, the AI Presets you chose for each photo in Pre-Edit are selected for you, and any changes you make in the Ship + Pre-edit window replace them. To request access, chat with us using the chat bubble or email [email protected]. Learn about Pre-Edit.
What if my photos don't show up in Lightroom?
If some or all of your photos don't show up, see Some or all of my images aren't showing when shipping to Lightroom.
