Publishing to Showit

See which Publish options work on your Showit plan: the WordPress plugin, embed code or exported JPGs.

You can publish your Publish posts to your Showit website in up to three ways. Which ones you can use depends on your Showit plan.

Which publishing options can I use on my Showit plan?

Showit blogs run on WordPress, so some options use the Narrative WordPress plugin (see Install and connect the Narrative WordPress plugin). Here's what works on each Showit plan:

Most people use the WordPress plugin. Embed code gives you more control over where your post goes in your blog post. Exporting as JPGs needs a yearly Publish plan.

How do I publish with the WordPress plugin?

You can publish with the plugin on Showit + Advanced Blog or Showit + Basic Blog.

  1. Install and connect the Narrative WordPress plugin on your Showit blog's WordPress dashboard.

  2. Publish your post from Publish. See Publishing to WordPress with the plugin for the steps.

  3. In WordPress, check your post title, featured image and SEO details.

  4. Publish the post in WordPress.

Your post is now on your Showit blog. Open the live page to check it.

How do I publish with embed code?

You can publish with embed code on Showit + Advanced Blog.

  1. In Publish, click Publish, then click Copy Link to copy your post's code.

  2. In your Showit blog's WordPress dashboard, paste the code into a Custom HTML block.

  3. Add your post title, meta title and meta description in WordPress yourself.

  4. Publish the post in WordPress.

Your post is now on your Showit blog. Open the live page to check it. For the full steps, see Publishing to WordPress with embed code.

How do I publish with exported JPGs?

You can export your post as JPGs on any Showit plan, as long as you're on a yearly Publish plan.

  1. Export your post as JPGs from Publish. Each row of your post is saved as one JPG.

  2. In Showit, open the page or blog post where you want your post.

  3. Upload the JPGs in order.

  4. Add any text around your photos in Showit.

Exported JPGs are still images, so features like Lightbox won't work.

What's the difference between a Showit page and a Showit blog post?

A Showit blog post is part of your WordPress blog, so you can use the plugin or embed code (depending on your plan). A Showit page is part of your main Showit website, not your blog, so you'll need to use exported JPGs there.

What happens to my posts if I move to a new website?

If you move to a new website, your Publish post links and photos stay the same. Here's what to know:

  • Embed code works on more than one website, so you can paste the same code into your new website.

  • The plugin connects to one WordPress website at a time, so you'll need to connect it to your new website.

  • Publish doesn't set up redirects from your old website for you.

For the full steps, see Move Publish posts to a new website.
