The Narrative Publisher WordPress plugin connects Publish to your WordPress website, so you can send your posts straight to WordPress.
Is there a video showing how to set it up?
Watch this video to see the whole setup, then follow the written steps below.
What do I need before I start?
Before you start, make sure you have:
Access to your WordPress dashboard, with permission to install plugins.
Publish installed and signed in.
You can connect the plugin to one WordPress website. To publish to more than one website, see Publishing to WordPress with embed code instead.
How do I install the plugin?
First, install the plugin in WordPress.
Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
Go to Plugins → Add New.
Search for Narrative Publisher and click Install Now.
Click Activate.
How do I connect Publish to WordPress?
Next, connect the plugin from Publish.
In Publish, click the gear icon to open your publishing settings.
Enter your website URL, for example www.mywebsite.com.
Click WordPress, then click Continue.
Click Check. Publish checks that the plugin is installed and active on your website.
If Publish can't find the plugin, check that you entered the right website URL and that the plugin is activated. For more help, see Publish can't find the plugin on my website.
Once Publish finds the plugin, it shows your access key. Click the access key to copy it.
How do I add my access key in WordPress?
Then, paste your access key into the plugin in WordPress.
In your WordPress dashboard, open the Narrative plugin.
Paste your access key.
Click Save Changes. Check that the time and date shown match when you saved it.
Go back to Publish and click Check again.
If you see an error like this, copy your access key again and make sure you saved it on the right website.
Note: Your access key works like a password for your website, so don't share it publicly. To find it again, see Where can I find my access key?
How do I know it's connected?
When you see Authentication successful and the Categories section opens, your plugin is set up and you're ready to publish.
Next, choose your categories and publish to WordPress with the plugin. If you want to add a post to a page, or to more than one website, you can publish with embed code instead. See Publishing to WordPress with embed code.
What if it still won't connect?
If it still won't connect, try these:
Update the Narrative Publisher plugin in WordPress.
Check the website URL in your publishing settings.
Check that the plugin is activated.
If your website is password protected, Publish may not be able to reach it.
If you still need help, contact us through the chat bubble or at [email protected] with your website URL and a screenshot of the error.
