The Lightbox feature lets people viewing your Publish post open each image full screen. It's especially helpful for people reading your post on their phone.
How do I turn on Lightbox?
You turn on Lightbox in the Publish panel for your post.
Open your post's Publish panel.
Scroll down to Lightbox.
Turn it on.
Publish your post, or update it if it's already live.
Once you've published or updated your post, people can open its images full screen.
How does Lightbox work for people viewing my post?
On a computer, people click an image to open it full screen:
On a phone, people tap an image, then swipe to see the rest:
To close the full-screen view, they click or tap again. Lightbox looks smoother on your website than in these examples.
What if Lightbox doesn't open?
If images don't open full screen, check these:
Lightbox is turned on in the Publish panel.
You've published or updated the post since turning it on.
You're looking at the live post on your website, not in your website's editor or an exported JPG.
If the whole post isn't loading properly, see Publish post not loading correctly in Squarespace, Troubleshoot Publish posts on WordPress or Publish post not loading correctly on other websites.
Why do my images look stretched or strange in Lightbox?
If images look stretched when they open, or Lightbox looks strange on your blog, your website theme's settings may be stopping Lightbox from reading the screen size correctly. You can:
Ask your theme provider or web developer to check the theme's settings.
Try a different theme.
Turn off Lightbox in the Publish panel, update your post, and use your website platform's own lightbox instead.
