Key People Highlighting marks the people most likely to matter in your shoot, like the couple at a wedding, so your eye lands on them first while you cull. When you're capturing dozens of faces in a frame, it saves you mentally sorting every face yourself. You still decide which people and photos matter.
Which plans and computers support Key People Highlighting?
Key People Highlighting is part of Advanced AI Culling, on Standard, Premium and Ultra plans. It works on Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later. It isn't on Windows yet, but Windows support is on the way.
How do I see which people are highlighted?
Key People Highlighting shows in the Close-ups panel. Each key person has a blue icon, and a blue frame appears around them when you hover over them.
How is Key People Highlighting different from People Filter?
Key People Highlighting builds on People Filter. People Filter lets you filter your whole shoot to show one person. Key People Highlighting points out the key people automatically as you cull, without any filtering.
Scenes, AI First Pass and face and focus assessments all keep working as normal alongside it. Every other face is still in Close-ups for you to check.
How do I turn Key People Highlighting on or off?
Open the filter bar and click the People filter.
Click the ⋮ (three-dot) menu next to the Key people heading.
Check or uncheck Highlight key people in Close-ups.
The People Filter stays open while you change this. When it's checked, key people show with a blue icon the next time you open Close-ups. When it's unchecked, the highlight is removed.
Hover over the small info dot next to the option for a quick explanation of what it does.
Why is Key People Highlighting on in some projects and off in others?
Whether Key People Highlighting is on by default depends on the project's shoot type. It turns on automatically for Wedding and Event shoots. For other shoot types, you can turn it on yourself in People Filter. To check or change a project's shoot type, open Shot Info. Learn about Shoot Type Detection.
Key People Highlighting works best for shoots with a consistent set of key people, like weddings, events, portrait sessions and corporate shoots.
Does a highlighted person mean I should keep the photo?
A highlight only points out who's likely to be a key person. It doesn't confirm who someone is, and it doesn't mean you need to keep their photo. Check each photo and make your own call.
