Narrative can now automatically detect the type of photoshoot you're importing and categorise your project accordingly. This is the first step toward a culling experience that adapts to the kind of work you shoot.
Shoot Type Detection works on new projects; existing projects won't be retroactively categorised, but you can set the shoot type manually via the Shot Info panel.
Currently available on macOS 14 and above (Windows support coming soon)
How Narrative detects your Shoot Type
When you import a project, Narrative analyses your images and assigns a shoot type, for example, Wedding, Event, or Sport. That shoot type is then used to tailor your experience, such as automatically enabling Key Subject Highlighting for the right kinds of shoots.
You'll see the detected shoot type in the Shot Info panel (i to open).

Narrative will continue expanding support for additional shoot types over the coming months.
