When you train a Personal AI Preset, the analyzing screen only counts photos Narrative can train on, not every photo in your catalogs. If a catalog is missing or the count is lower than you expected, it's usually because some photos or drives aren't connected.
Training needs at least 1,500 edited and exported photos before it can start. This is the same for Color and Black & White AI Presets.
Which photos does Narrative count?
Narrative only counts photos that meet all of these:
They're RAW photos you've edited and exported from Lightroom Classic.
Their original RAW file is connected to the catalog, or they have a Smart Preview.
They're downloaded to your computer or an external drive, not only stored in the cloud.
Narrative doesn't count JPEG, PNG or other photos that aren't RAW files.
How do I fix missing catalogs or a low count?
Work through these steps, then try training again:
Connect any external drives with your Lightroom Classic catalogs or photos.
Open each catalog in Lightroom Classic and check the RAW files are linked. If they aren't, link them or create Smart Previews.
Download any photos that are only stored in the cloud.
If a catalog is stored on a network drive (NAS), copy it to your computer or an external drive.
If a catalog was made in an older version of Lightroom Classic, open it in the latest version and let Lightroom upgrade it when it asks. Back up the catalog first.
Go back to Narrative and start training again.
If you're training a Black & White AI Preset, make sure you choose Black & White only or Color + Black & White when you start.
