On a Mac, you can create a new Lightroom Classic catalog straight from Narrative when you ship your photos. On Windows, create the catalog in Lightroom Classic first, then ship to it.
How do I create a new catalog when I ship?
You create the catalog in the Ship + Edit window.
Click Ship + Edit and choose Lightroom Classic.
Open the catalog list and choose Create a new catalog.
Type a name in Name your catalog.
Under Choose location to save catalog, click Browse and choose a folder on your computer or a connected drive.
Check your photos and any AI Presets, then ship.
Narrative creates a folder with your catalog's name in that location, and puts the new Lightroom Classic catalog inside it.
If a different catalog is open in Lightroom, Narrative asks to close and reopen Lightroom. Lightroom has to reopen to switch catalogs, and Narrative does this for you.
What can I name my catalog?
You can use letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores. Just avoid these:
A slash (/) in the name.
The same name as a catalog that's already in that folder.
If Narrative doesn't accept a name, it shows a message telling you why.
Where should I save my catalog?
Save your catalog somewhere easy to find, on a drive with enough free space. Don't save it on a drive that might be disconnected, or one you can't save changes to.
What if I have more than one version of Lightroom Classic?
If you have more than one version of Lightroom Classic, choose the version you want to open the catalog with. An older version of Lightroom can't always open a catalog made by a newer one.
What if Narrative can't create the catalog?
If the catalog isn't created, try these steps:
Update Narrative to the latest version. Learn how Narrative updates.
Check you can save files in the folder you chose.
Try a short, simple name that you haven't used before.
If you see a "Sorry, something went wrong" message, see “Sorry, something went wrong” when shipping with an AI Preset.
