Find Missing Descriptions with the Image Descriptions Overlay

Turn on the Image Descriptions Overlay in the Publish SEO panel to see which photos in your post still need a description.

Written by Ashton Smith

The Image Descriptions Overlay in Publish shows you at a glance which photos in your post have an image description and which don't, so you can finish your SEO in less time.

How do I turn on the Image Descriptions Overlay?

The Image Descriptions Overlay is in the SEO panel, under SEO Image Descriptions. When you turn on Image Descriptions Overlay, the photos in your layout turn red or green:

  • ❌ Red: The photo doesn't have an image description yet.

  • ✅ Green: The photo has an image description.

The colors only show while you're working in Publish. They don't show on your published post or in exported JPGs.

When every photo has a description, the SEO panel shows All your images have descriptions. Perfect!

How do I add a missing image description?

To add a description, click a red photo and type it in SEO Image Description. For the full steps and tips on what to write, see Add useful image descriptions in Publish.
