Select is missing faces or face data

Can't see blink or focus data? Is the Close-ups panel not showing any faces? Is Zoom to face not working?

Make sure assessments are turned on, and you're not in zoom mode

Firstly, check that assessments are turned on (the eye icon in the toolbar should have the black dot below it)

Secondly, make sure you are not in zoom mode. By default, eye and focus assessments do not show in zoom mode, though you can turn these on in the preferences. The zoom icons should look like this, with no black dot:

It could be a matter of time

Is there a spinning face icon in the bottom right of the screen? This means Select is still scanning your image for face data. Wait a few seconds and they should appear. If you have the time to spare, we suggest letting Select scan through your project before starting to cull.

It could be an AI failure

If there's no spinning icon in the bottom corner but a face or faces have not been detected in a specific image, it could be a failure of our AI. Certain lighting conditions, head positions and expressions and many other factors can cause our AI to miss a face or two. In this case, we would love to hear from you so we can improve our AI.

Or, it could just be a bug...

If you have to wait more than a few hours for all face scanning to finish, or if scanning appears finished but Select missed all or most faces in your project – you've likely hit a bug.

The first thing to try is going to the File menu and clicking 'Refresh Source Folder'. This will reimport the images and attempt to rescan for faces.

If this fails, please contact support via the chat button in the bottom right of this webpage and we'll do our best to help.
