Step by step guide to exporting JPGs
1. Once you have completed your post, head to the menu bar and select File > Export Post to JPG
If you're not able to export, it's likely because you're on a billed monthly plan. This feature is only available on our annually billed plans.
2. Select Export Entire Blog
3. Input the desired pixel width of your exported images
4. Select the background colour of your website
5. Create or select a folder for the images to be exported to
6. Click the tick-box if you would like to add a subfolder to export the images to
7. Select your image title preferences
8. Select the export quality and whether you want it sharpened or not (export quality determines the compression on export)
9. Hit Export Layout
The images will instantly be exported to the provided location and ordered with a prefix number.
Be sure to order the images by name when you upload to your website so they upload in the correct order.
If you need to make a change to a single side-by-side image after exporting, you can make the changes in Publish, highlight those images in your post and then use the Export Collage option.
If you wish to change the title of the JPEGs see this article.
To change the padding between your images see this article.

Exporting Suggestions
We suggest importing your normal size images and then exporting at 2000px width between 75-95% quality and try removing the "apply sharpness".

What does Narrative Publish export?
Each block within a Narrative post will be exported as its own JPG. The example below shows a Narrative post (left) and how the individual JPGs are exported (right)
The first two images will be exported a single image side-by-side.
The next three images are exported as a single image.
The last image is also exported in sequence but as a single image.
Export File Names
The file names will be prefixed with their order number, the image title and then the image keywords that you have added in Narrative. See the image below for an example:
Narrative will keep the original filename as google gives preference to file names that are unique and don't appear to be specifically generated for SEO purposes.

Exporting vs Publish - Explained
We encourage you to use Narrative's Publish feature so that the app can produce the HTML for your post.
Here are a few disadvantages of exporting JPGs from Narrative:
Text is not exported.
You cannot use the 'Download Images button'
You won't be able to create unique layouts with dynamic spacing such as this one here.
You cannot ensure your padding is perfect between your images vertically for basic stacked galleries.
You cannot use the quick update feature if you wish to make a change to your post after exporting.
You lose the ability to easily move your blog posts between Squarespace and WordPress.
Side-by-side images are shown as 2 stitched images in Google image search (not as individual images)
Your post won't load as fast as it could. When you Publish with Narrative, Narrative resizes your images to 5 different sizes to ensure visitors on your website don't load a larger image size than needed for their screen size.
Narrative's SEO features won't automatically post to your website.
Narrative has many more additional features coming that require us to build your HTML and host your images including - scroll animation on images, full page blog posts, text over images, click through images, alternative mobile view for your post, light-box view on images, new sections including grid and masonry layouts, social share buttons, embedded Facebook comments and a 'download images' button for client sneak peeks.
There are more changes scheduled to come for this feature in our development roadmap, so if you would like to see more changes, please contact our support team.
