You can add a Publish post to WordPress in two ways: with the Narrative WordPress plugin, or with embed code. Both show your post on your website, but they fill in different details for you.
Which option should I choose?
We suggest the plugin for most people, as it fills in your post details for you. Embed code is better if the plugin can't connect, your website isn't live yet, or you want to publish to more than one website.
Here's how the two options compare:
WordPress plugin | Embed code | |
Setup | Install and connect the plugin | No plugin needed. Your website needs to allow JavaScript |
Post content | Added for you | Added for you |
Image descriptions | Added for you | Added for you |
Post title | Added for you | Add it yourself in WordPress |
Featured image | Added for you | Shows at the top of your post |
Meta title and meta description | Added for you | Add them yourself in WordPress |
Websites | One website | More than one website |
Where your post goes | Your blog posts | Any post or page |
How do I publish with the plugin?
To publish with the plugin, first install and connect the Narrative WordPress plugin. Then follow Publishing to WordPress with the plugin. Your post goes to WordPress, where you can preview it and make any final changes before it goes live.
How do I publish with embed code?
To publish with embed code, follow Publishing to WordPress with embed code. You copy your post's code from Publish and paste it into a post or page in WordPress. Then add your post title, meta title and meta description in WordPress yourself.
What should I check before my post goes live?
Before your post goes live, open the preview and check:
The whole layout and all your photos show.
Your post title and featured image are right.
Your meta title and meta description are filled in.
