The minimum system requirements for Narrative are macOS 12 on Mac or Windows 11 on Windows, with at least 8 GB of RAM. Narrative isn't available on iPad.
What do I need to run Narrative on a Mac?
To run Narrative on a Mac, you'll need:
A dual-core Intel i5 processor.
8 GB of RAM.
Several GB of free disk space on your computer's internal drive, and on the drive your photos are on.
macOS 12 or later.
For the best experience, we recommend:
A quad-core Intel i7 processor or better.
8 GB of RAM or more.
An SSD (solid-state drive, a fast type of storage) with several GB of free space, on your computer's internal drive and on the drive your photos are on.
The latest version of macOS your Mac can run.
Does Narrative work on macOS 11 or earlier?
Narrative no longer supports macOS 11 or earlier. It may still open on an older Mac, but we can't promise it'll work properly, and it won't get updates. Learn how to upgrade your macOS version.
What do I need to run Narrative on Windows?
To run Narrative on Windows, you'll need:
A quad-core 2 GHz processor.
8 GB of RAM.
A graphics card with 2 GB of video memory (VRAM) and DirectX 12 support.
An SSD with several GB of free space, on your computer's internal drive and on the drive your photos are on.
Windows 11.
Do I need extra space for my photos?
You'll need extra space on top of these requirements for your photos, backups and any copies you make. Narrative also needs free space on your computer's internal drive while it works, even if your photos are on another drive. When you first install Narrative, stay connected to the internet until it finishes setting up.
