You can delete photos in Narrative, but deleting a photo removes the file from your drive too, not just from the project.
How do I delete photos in Narrative?
To delete photos in Narrative, select them, then do one of these:
Right-click and choose Delete File (or Delete Files if you've selected more than one).
Press Delete on Mac, or Backspace or Delete on Windows.
On Mac, go to File → Delete Files… in the menu bar.
Narrative asks you to confirm first. Click Delete to go ahead, or Cancel to keep the photos. If you check Don't ask me again, Narrative won't ask next time.
What happens to deleted photos?
Deleting a photo in Narrative also deletes any XMP or JPEG files that go with it in your source folder. XMP files are small sidecar files saved next to your photos that store your ratings and other changes.
Photos stored on your computer are moved to the Trash. Photos stored on an external drive or memory card are deleted permanently.
Important: Photos deleted from an external drive or memory card can't be recovered, so double-check before you delete them.
What can I do instead of deleting photos?
We recommend rejecting photos instead of deleting them, so nothing gets deleted by mistake. Press X to reject a photo, or use a color label, like red, for the photos you don't want. Then:
Filter them out to hide them while you cull.
When you ship, choose only the ratings you want, so rejected photos stay behind.
