Deleting a project in Narrative removes the project from your application but does not delete your actual image files.

All your images are stored locally on your computer or external drive in their original folder locations. Narrative simply reads and displays these files from their source folders, it doesn't move or store them separately.

Your original image files, folder structure, and any XMP metadata files remain completely untouched on your drive.

How to delete a project

  1. Click the Narrative logo in the top left corner to open the Projects screen

  2. Right-click the project you want to delete

  3. Select "Delete" from the menu

  4. In the confirmation popup, click "YES, DELETE"

The project will be immediately removed from Narrative.

Can I recover a deleted project?

Once a project is deleted from Narrative, it cannot be recovered. However, since your image files are still on your drive, you can:

  • Create a new project and re-import the same folder

  • Your images and existing XMP metadata (ratings, edits) will still be there
