Important: From December 2025, Narrative will require macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. If you're running an older version of macOS, you'll need to upgrade to continue receiving Narrative updates and access new features.

Not sure if your Mac can upgrade to macOS 12? Check if your device is compatible here.

Check Your Current macOS Version

  1. Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen

  2. Click About This Mac

Update to the latest macOS version for the best experience.

For the best experience with Narrative, we recommend upgrading to the latest version of macOS your Mac supports. You can find Apple's full support article here. In all instances we recommend you make a backup first.

If You're Running macOS Big Sur (11) or Catalina (10.15)

  1. Click the Apple menu and select System Preferences

  2. Click Software Update

  3. If macOS 12 (Monterey) or later is available, click Upgrade Now

  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the upgrade

If You're Running macOS Mojave (10.14) or Earlier

  1. Check Apple's compatibility guide to see which macOS version your Mac supports

  2. Open the App Store

  3. Search for the latest macOS version your Mac supports (e.g., "macOS Monterey")

  4. Click Upgrade Now and follow the onscreen instructions

Note: Older Macs may not be able to upgrade to macOS 12. If your Mac isn't compatible with macOS 12 or later, it won't be able to receive future Narrative updates.
