Why can't my editing program see the tags or reject labels I apply in Narrative?

Although Narrative’s tag and reject labels are written to metadata so your ratings are safe, certain programs cannot read them. Only star and color ratings are universally accepted amongst image software.

As of August, 2024 Narratives tagged and rejected labels are compatible with Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC.

How to get Narrative’s tags to work with my editing program

Method 1: Ship only your tagged images from Narrative to your editing program. Then, in your editing program select all the images and apply another rating.

Method 2: In Narrative, apply the ‘tagged’ filter. Now select all your images and apply a color or star rating – for example ‘p’ for purple. Your editing program will be able to read this.

Method 3: In future projects, consider switching to a star or color rating instead of using tag and reject. They function in exactly the same way, but your editing program is able to read them.
